Waiting, 2019
In 2019 I started making photos and videos of anonymized people on public transport. This ultimately turned into a deeper curiosity, and maybe inquiry, on the topic of waiting. Any object or place can become one of longing, so I let this series become a space for a personal reflections on this.
This series heavily relied on the image abstraction software I started developing in 2015 (“Geometries Everywhere”), the vector results of which were ultimately plotted onto paper (with the Polargraph DIY plotter), and then manually worked on with ink — resulting in works that look and feel analog, but are the basis of a deep digital process. The line qualities (manual or automated) vary strongly, but can only be understood when viewing the works up-close.
